The goal of the USAID C-4 Cotton Partnership (C4CP) project was to increase food security in targeted areas of C4 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Mali), primarily by increasing incomes for men and women cotton producers and processors in targeted areas of C4 countries. The project focused on increasing the agricultural productivity of conventional and organic cotton, as well as rotational crops including millet, maize, soybeans, peanut, sorghum, and beans.  A key intermediate result of the project was to increase the benefit to women who participate directly or indirectly in the cotton sector. Cultural Practice was a partner to International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) in the C4CP project and was responsible for supporting gender integration throughout the project’s activities and in particular for supporting activities related to the achievement of increasing benefits for women. A key activity for the project was the completion of gender and value chain analyses in the C4CP countries to identify appropriate gender-responsive interventions in the targeted value chains.
