Gender & Value Chains Training Volunteer
Winrock’s Farmer-to-Farmer for Agriculture Education and Training (F2F/AET) Program seeks a volunteer with experience in agriculture value chain analysis and gender analysis and mainstreaming, to provide gender and value chain training to grantees of the Agriculture Education and Market Improvement (AEMIP) Program.
AEMIP’s Innovations Grant Program will issue up to 15 applied research grants that support market-driven and gender transformative development of policies, practices, tools and technologies for agriculture and rural development in Guinea. Research Grants will be issued in two phases: Assessment Phase 1 and Implementation Phase 2. As a requirement for the Phase 1 grants, grantees are required to integrate a gender analysis as part of their overall research assessment. The Gender & Value Chains training will provide grantee teams with an orientation to the USAID accepted analytical frame works to conduct gender assessments in the context of value chain strengthening to support grant requirements The volunteer should utilize the USAID-developed Integrating Gender Issues into Agricultural Value Chains (INGIA-VC) approach and the associated Promoting Gender Equitable Opportunities in Agriculture Value Chains Handbook. Alternative frameworks may be proposed by the trainer.
Training will provide participants with an understanding of gender-related constraints and opportunities within agricultural value chains and the potential impacts of these on family and community food security. Participants will learn to use a variety of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools to conduct research in rural communities supportive of their Research Grant Assessment Phase 1. The training is expect to take 8 days of on the ground training time and an additional 11 days of preparation and travel.
This training will complement a similar training that will have already been conducted on Gender and Climate Change.
Participants in the training will include ISAVF faculty and students from various departments including agriculture, water and forestry management, agroforestry, extension and rural economics that have already applied for or are interested in applying for Research Grants. Participants will be expected to transfer knowledge gained with their external team members of their grant and rural communities involved in the practical exercises.

Training of Trainers in Gender Mainstreaming Volunteer
Winrock International is seeking an experienced volunteer to provide Training of Trainers in gender mainstreaming in the agricultural sector for two local NGOs (SARA and RGTA-DI) in Kindia region in Guinea.
These two NGOs are supporting farmer’s organizations (individual farmers, farmer’s groups, unions and federations) in three regions in Guinea (lower Guinea, central Guinea and Upper Guinea) to improve their organizational capacity and increase their productions and marketing. Most often, the two NGOs hire graduated youth from AET institutions (ENAE and ISAV), yet these graduates are poorly skilled in agricultural enterprise development and management, and thus, many farmers’ organizations are under-developed and are struggling to make a profitable business. Furthermore, there are not enough women within NGO field staff and agricultural enterprises. Many efforts have been made towards women’s inclusion, but gender mainstreaming still remains to be improved. For these reasons, the two local NGOs are committed to strongly consider gender inclusion in all activities for gender equity and sustainability.
